In the next year, she was called upon by the legendary director Balachandar to appear as a guest in his movie. It was a hit movie and Rekha was popularly called as Kadalora Kavithaigal Rekha. She was introduced to the cinema industry through the veteran Tamil film director Bharathiraja. Her birth name is Josephine and she changed her name to Rekha as the stage name. In the 1960s, Jyothi Lakshmi confined herself to the supporting roles, but in the later years, her skills as a dancer were revealed.įrom that point onwards, she was famous for her roles as an item dancer, vamp roles, etc. Her role is not so lengthy in the movie, but she made her presence felt by the audience.
